What ever happens at United in the next 3,4,5 years, if Moyes is still the manager or there's a new man in charge, no matter what players come in or leave, I really do hope to God that David de Gea is still lining up between the posts as a United goalkeeper.

He's destined for great things in football. I just hope we can keep him at Old Trafford for as long as possible.

We really have to keep this kid at OT for as long as we can. I have said before, he is already ahead of both VDS and Shmikes in developement and if he continues like he has will be a true great of the keeping fraternity. Added conscistency to his already fantastic shot stopping and command of his area is vastly superior to what it was when he came.

Not too sure, really tough decision between playing CL in his home country and non-CL in a foreign land.................

Have you not got the impression that DDG is really happy here though? He seems to get on with everyone, constantly asks other players to join the club, starts every single game, and is getting the recognition he needs to push for international places. Why would he move? I understand the CL stuff, but people are really going over the top with that, as if every single quality player we have is going to leave because of one season without CL football. Does nobody else remember the year Barcelona didn't have it, and we did? You should, because Ronaldinho chose them.

Anyway, does DDG remind anyone of Van Der Sar at the moment? The one thing I have noticed he does so often now which nobody seems to mention is catch the ball. Sure he still likes to punch it from crosses but his shot-stopping are no longer camera exaggerated and he catches the ball consistently - like Van Der Sar did.

I certainly hope he thinks exactly like you and nowhere like me!

Barcelona are said to be looking to spend "big money" including replacing Victor Valdes. I think we should be concerned, because Dave is an obvious target.

M'ladbach signed Yann Sommer from Basel today so it looks pretty much nailed on that Ter Stegan is off to Barca in the summer for 10 million

Thankfully for us it looks like Dave will be here for a couple more years at least.

Dave was never going anywhere! Hes got a little Spanish friend now, and hopefully he'll get another in the summer! :)

Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part but he does seem very happy and settled here and seems to really enjoy playing for us, even if our defence leaves him out to dry at times.

It's good that Barca are out of the frame for the moment though, as I can't see him going to Real Madrid for obvious reasons, especially with Athletico doing so well at present. The only other worry is his GF still living in Spain? But I had no real worries for him leaving anytime soon personally anyway

He needs to drop her and pick himself up a nice Manchester girl.

That save from Suarez was out of this world, it will probably go un-noticed because of the result but it truly was world class, we're blessed to have him and it'ss on days like today I really feel sorry for him, had nothing to do all game apart from that one save which was brilliant and still concedes 3 goals, hopefully the talks of the contract extension are true

      #1 DAVID DE GEA
One year ago, he was the undisputed best keeper in the league and arguably the best in the world. But a particularly poor showing at the World Cup and the seeds of doubt had been planted (despite being infallible for the past 4 or so seasons before that). By the end of the season, Allison was the public's darling and following a series of poor performances, De Gea couldn't have fallen any further from grace.
With his contract situation still unresolved, and therefore a question of his commitment being raised, you do need to wonder how this will all play out. It's not like we haven't been here before. We spend all summer flirting with 'will he/won't he' and cautiously preparing ourselves of the fact he might leave.
But these things always seem to cross the line. And should he sign a bumper new deal with the club, that would likely see him remain at the club for the entirety of his prime. Turning 29 in November, time has seemingly caught up with him out of nowhere. I don't think many would object to this happening either, despite his wobble at the end of last year. It wasn't that long ago where he was making mistakes over the course of an entire season. It happens. Confidence is everything, especially for a Goalkeeper. I think long-term security plays a huge role in this and it's hard to tell who's blue balling who.
I would now like to take this moment to present my second instalment of traditional Japanese Haiku's to our Spanish bastards.

      David. Sign da ting.
      Your distribution is whack.
      We love you anyway.

Wonder what haircut he'll have this season.

      David de Gea
David de Gea comes into the 2018/19 season off the recent highs and lows in football. A poor World Cup performance by himself and Spain collectively, but also a first Golden Glove for Manchester United in the previous season. And for the first time in many seasons, a summer transfer window that didn't revolve around a possible move back to Spain and to Real Madrid. David instead spent the summer travelling with his friends and girlfriend, and enjoyed a trip to Disney World. Here's hoping de Gea has less to do in goal this season, but eventually ends up with a second Golden glove come season end. David goes into this season being Manchester United most capped player in the premier league in the current squad with only Valencia having more club appearances overall.

David showing where his loyalties lie. As proven by his intentional summer display to ward off any possible Spanish transfer activity.

A happy man with his well deserved award. Only his first, as previously thwarted by Chris Smalling in the final minute, of the final match of the season.

de Gea carried his outstanding 13/14 form towards 14/15. He is one of the key performers in our race for the 4th spot, if not the most. de Gea made saves after saves which many led to be the difference between a win, lose, or draw.
His yet another over the top performances earned him a spot in 14/15 PFA Team of The Year, beating the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Joe Hart, and Hugo Lloris. de Gea also won both Manchester United Players' Player of The Year & Sir Matt Busby Player of The Year for the second successive season.

With de Gea's contract running out on 2016 and there has been no sign of negotiating new contract for the Spaniard, de Gea has been heavily linked with Real Madrid since the last days of season 14/15. Many believe come the start of the season de Gea will be a Real Madrid player.

We shall see the outcome of this sooner rather than later.
