TMU Forum update - Moving to Discord

Hi everyone,

As we've all known for a long time now, the forum has been in a decline over the last few years for various reasons. Neither myself nor the rest of the admin team have the capacity or the inclination to try and reverse this and even with all the will in the world, forums as a whole just don't have the same appeal as they once did. 

However, we are keen to continue to provide some kind of community space where the few of us that are still active can continue to talk absolute shite together. We've therefore decided to make the move over to Discord and have set up a TMU server which you're all welcome to join.

If you live under a rock and have never heard of Discord, it's an instant messaging and voice chat platform that works across your computers, mobile or tablet devices. It's a departure from the old-school lengthy discussion nature of a forum, but we're confident it will provide a good space for us providing we have enough members join us and remain active.

Installing Discord

 

• Visit the Discord website.
• Click on the "Download" button and select the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, or iOS).
• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.

Creating a Discord Account

• Once Discord is installed, open the application.
• Click on the "Register" button to create a new account.
• Fill in the required information, including your email address, username, and password.
• After providing the necessary details, click on "Continue" to proceed.

Joining Our Discord Server

• Once you have created your Discord account, click on the "+" button on the left sidebar.
• Select the "Join a Server" option.
• In the invitation link field, paste the invite link: https://discord.gg/6PbhGHtcZM
• Click "Join" to join our server and become a part of our thriving community.

The community is brand new and will evolve over time based on your feedback and how it ends up being used. Let us know below if you have any issues accessing it or have any other questions. 

Thank you to everyone who's been a part of this forum, and MUT before it. I haven't worked out what I'll do with the forum yet, but it will stick around for a bit while we're moving over. I'll likely then disable posting and leave a link up to Discord for a while before turning it off permanently and closing the server.

If you have any questions fire away, a lot of you might already have discord, in which case just click the link,

if you don't have one yet it's free (you don't need the 'nitro' or 'premium' to do anything you do on here, and the site can be used in the browser just like this site)

There will be fewer 'individual topics' like not one for each player, but think of the actual 'areas' / 'forums' on this site (man utd talk, matchday, transfer talk, the pub etc - they will all be their own thing on the discord)
 

Technically it could go more that way if the demand was there for it - but it'll help with activity having broader topics which mostly match the ones on here) so please join up, invite other utd fans, we think we can maintain the core of this place which is the most important thing of course, and maybe even add some more in or bring a few former people back with the ease of discord
