So we enter the 11th Season since the great man retired with the Premiership Title still elusive as ever.

Can United make a fist of it this year, will the new signings strengthen us, can we really compete against City and Arsenal?

I personally think the best we can hope for is another Top 4. The new signings will need to settle then understand Ten Hags philosophy in how he wants to set us up this year so collectively that will take time even with the established players.

I can see many occasions like last year happening all over again 8 absolutely horrible away defeats and not one victory away from home against our rivals, damning! Ten Hag had prepared scripts it was happening that often.

When you have the likes of Dalot, Shaw, Wan Bissaka & Varane all prone to mistakes on a regular basis you lose that ability straight away to string results together. Onana has been lobbed twice already in pre-season, not saying he's a terrible keeper but I can see mistakes in him also. The defence is the cornerstone in a title challenge and that defence Martinez, Onana and perhaps Varane aside is a floodgate about to open.

Then you move onto our midfield as much as Casemiro was stellar last season he was equally poor and skipper Fernandes has been blind siding us for a good while. Antony a one trick pony maybe? Mount is not going to be pulling up any trees either and as for Eriksen well he's done. Sancho has been aids since joining us and that leaves Garnacho an 19 year old boy who is just dipping his toes still so expectations shouldn't be as high.

Up front we have Rashford who unless scoring is a passenger, his overall game play is awful & the new signing Rasmus who didn't even get into double figures last year. Add the fringe to that Lindelof, Maguire, Fred, McTominay, Malacia, Martial, Elanga just highlights how poor the squad is still even with investment. Amad, Hugill & Pellistri will get very limited game time.

It sounds doom but even after 10 years it seems we don't appear to have a squad capable of stringing together say 10 consecutive wins  to compete against City nevermind 15/16 that they are capable of. That is the stark reality folks could you really envisage this United Team winning 15/16 on the spin?

It may well go the over way, something bizarre may happen and we may end up winning it! Let's just say the bookies rarely get it wrong.

Enjoy! 😉

right now, I think 3rd again is slightly optimistic, but achievable depending on really bad injury luck etc maybe even fourth would be a struggle though (pessimistically)... if we do get that one more mid in (just for example amrabat as he's the 'name' in the press a lot at the moment) - then I'd feel a lot more confident of at least top four

I do think we'll be more competitive in one off games for trophies (we had an easy run mostly for the carabao last year, I think we matchup better for a one legged final against even city than we did this time a year ago on paper at least now) - but we need another year of development, and another window like this one next year and then we could genuinely challenge for the title if things don't go pear shaped...

At least they seem to be targeting that more long term vision now

We should be aiming for top 4 and a higher points total than last season. We will probably have 4 new signings plus the progression of garnacho and mainoo and the reintroduction of greenwood. On the other hand there are worrying signs of a possible decline of casemiro and Eriksen and there is always the question mark over varanes fitness.

If the Glazers stay put, it'll be top four for the foreseeable future. This is pretty much Ten Hag's team now so he really must produce the goods. Spending all that on an unproven striker is madness, but that tells me that Greenwood is on his way out, thank goodness. If Casemiro does drop off a cliff, and Eriksen stays where he is, there's two massive gaps to fill with a limited pool of players.

Far too few "squad" players failed to be offloaded this window. Probably prevented a coupla new guys being brought in due to massive salaries being paid at present. The most concerning aspect for the immediate future is the total lack of investment on our right sided options. Dalot/AWB playing behind Antony will bear no threat whatsoever to any EPL team imo. Fuckin sickening to watch these halfwits pull on the shirt on a consistent basis.

Watch this space on outgoings looks like things are picking up, rb I don’t see being looked at much as it’s a growing concern, the right wing will see Antony and potentially sancho or Diallo there, there’s also a chance he who shall not be named returns and he could play from the right

Outside of City (remain top team for me) & Tottenham (whom look certainly going backwards)

it’s very hard to say out of Arsenal/UTD/Newc/Chelsea/Liverpool who’s addressed weaknesses better & best placed to kick on?

Not reading much into pre-season, UTD as gd a chance as any1- let’s see how it unfolds

Don't fret mate. Greenwood is coming back. The Murdoch press has been running regular stories about him either leaked by the player's people or by the club, although United say no decision has been made. It'll all come down to money in the end. It always does.
