TheManc 4,052
Seeing as there's no United for a while, might as well treat this as a half way point, of sorts. Anyway, how would you rate them; DDG Varane Martinez Maguire Lindelof Dalot AWB Shaw Malacia Casemiro Fred Eriksen McTomminay Bruno VDB Sancho Antony Elanga Rashford Garnacho Martial Ronaldo Edited December 18, 2022 by TheManc
TFIA 14,993
DDG - 6.5 - Some good saves, but the same limitations will always hold us back. Varane - 8.5 - Maybe our best player before injury. A consistent problem though. Martinez - 8 - Some shaky moments aside he's been great. My favourite player. Maguire - 4 - Ass Lindelof - 5 - Not a liability but a huge downgrade on Varane Dalot - 8 - Unbelievable transformation. Gets exposed defensively occasionally but has been a weapon on that flank. AWB - N/A - I genuinely can't remember watching him play Shaw - 6.5 - Mediocre which of course has our fans saying "he's back" lol. Malacia - 6.5 - Hit and miss. Mediocre. Casemiro - 7.5 - Started poorly but slowly developing into our most important player. Fred - 4 - Trash Eriksen - 7 - Been fine. Overrated by our fans. McTomminay - 7 - Been fine. Underrated by our fans. Bruno - 7.5 - High highs and low lows. Classic Bruno. Our most important attacking player. VDB - 3 - A scam. Sancho - 2 - A bigger scam. Antony - 7.5 - Solid if not spectacular. Our most reliable attacker at keeping/progressing the ball. Rashford - 6 - Far better than last season. Still shite. Garnacho - 7 - The glimpses have been great, hopefully he puts it all together. Martial - 6.5 - Good when fit but a crock. Ronaldo - 1 - A hindrance who couldn't give less of a shit. Shaw 6.5 Malacia 6 Casemiro 7 Fred 5.5 Eriksen 7.5 McTomminay.. 6 Bruno.. 6 VDB..4 Sancho..5.5 Antony 7.5 Rashford 6.5 Garnacho 7 Martial 6.5 again can't give him too high a rating as he's seen so little action Ronaldo..
Alexander 225
The number system always leaves me feeling less certain about my choices so I'm just going to put them in buckets. Tier 1s are indispensable players, where I really need to think hard to remember a bad performance. Tier 2s are crucial players but who are liable to let you down at times. Tier 3s are generally good, but need to improve in one or more areas of their game, if they stay as they are then in the future they make the squad but not the team. Tier 4s are OK but would really need to step up if they are going to have a future here. Tier 5s look like they make the team worse every single time they play. Tier 1 Martinez, Casemiro Varane Tier 2 Eriksen Dalot Fernandes Garnacho* Martial* Tier 3 Rashford Antony Shaw De Gea Malacia McTominay Tier 4 Sancho Fred Lindelof Elanga Tier 5 Maguire Ronaldo Donny* *small sample size Pap1918 and aardvarked

hdcantona 8,731
DDG - 6 - Atrocious then pretty good, averages out to a 6 but he still distributes with the fine aim of a party popper Varane - 8 - A real shame he's made of glass because although it took him some time to get up to speed he was quality when fit Martinez - 8.5 - Could've been caught out a bit more with some iffy fouls etc but he genuinely might be our best passer Maguire - 4.5 - I was always a bit more defensive of him than many but he was genuinely fucking abysmal tbh Lindelof - 6 - Meh, closer to Maguire than Martinez & Varane sadly Dalot - 8 - Arguably the most improved player under ETH, he looked promising on loan at Milan, finally starting to fulfill his potential AWB - 5.5 - He had that one game in europe, was there another? looked useless in ETH's system tbh, will be good for a more defensive side Shaw - 7 - This is probably slightly generous given his first and last couple of games but for all his flaws and much as I loathe him we moved the ball better with him than without (guess we'll just have to keep buying new LBs every summer) Malacia - 7 - Initially incredible, been exposed a bit since, has work to do on the ball especially, is young and promising - good value so far Casemiro - 8 - Initially feared he was washed and he had a ropey beginning but settled into a transformational role tbh Fred - 5.5 - His lack of quality sadly shows up a lot especially in games we dominate possession, he's a decent squad player but wouldn't be shocked to see him leave free Eriksen - 7.5 - Considering we've been using him a bit deeper than he'd like a lot I think he's done really well and he's capable of passes on the half turn seemingly nobody else is McTomminay - 6 - If it wasn't for some important goals / moments I'd have given him like a 5 as I think he's been mostly shocking but another 'squad player' basically Bruno - 6.5 - No shock he's miles better without Ronaldo, is still miles off the heights of his first 6-18 months here, suspect stylistically he's peaked for us in that sense but is still very important in terms of goals/assists VDB - 4.5 - Massive let down, finally got a few chances and honestly can't think of a single positive memorable thing he achieved in those games Sancho - 4 - flop of the season? maybe, especially given how sharp he looked in pre-season, is it a physicality thing? is it mental? a mix of both? Just gutting he's not even come close to the hype tbh despite flashing great traits Antony - 7 - Love his passion and he's made a good start, maintains possession really well, would like to see him take on a few more players though, drop off at RW after him is huge Rashford - 6.5 - End product has returned to some extent, major major improvement, still needs to be more consistent in his performances and how he distributes those goals/assists Garnacho - 7 - Has "it" for sure - let's hope we can nurture him right Martial - 7.5 - Class when around, I have gone from resenting him and wanting him binned to really enjoying him *but* he's too injury prone to be reliable Ronaldo - 3 - Expensive parasite - good riddance Pap1918

The former, I think you got partially correct, that being the .5 Martial? Really don't see where you got the 7 from? I firmly believe that Utd carry more of a threat when he takes up his position on the treatment table!
hdcantona 8,731
@TheManc I think you missed elanga I've just revisited my ratings and probably wouldn't change them. Id give Elanga like a six and I'd probably bump rashford up to a seven comparatively TheManc

Malacia - 7 still 7 - quietly been really solid since coming back Casemiro - 8 --> 8.5 so good, and clearly has bought in to the club well Fred - 5.5 --> 7 has proved himself a really valuable squad player and should absolutely be kept as backup / depth next season Eriksen - 7.5 --> 7 a little exposed out of possession when playing in the deeper 2 at times but has quality in midfield we've not had passing wise for the best part of a decade McTomminay - 6 --> 4 wank - get rid Bruno - 6.5 --> 5.5 an enigma - great when in space, love his divisive, prickish personality and has absurd quality but he's so chaotic especially in games where we have a lot of the ball or need some control VDB - 4.5 -->6 flashed some promise finally before being injured Sancho - 4 --> n/a - BUT I do think if he can get in the right frame of mind, ETH can get the best out of him (I do like the idea of him being central tbh, maybe he can get the time donny was getting there?) Antony - 7 --> 6.5 I get why people are super frustrated by him, I think he is actually doing what ETH wants really well and is on track to contribute a decent Goals/assists return still BUT as Neville said - is his top end pace lacking a bit for the prem? and ultimately do we need more ? absolutely Rashford - 7 --> 9 has gone super sayian - still should simplify things a little bit at times, but my word Garnacho - 7-->8 definitely has it - so exciting, ETH has him eating out the palm of his hand now too Martial - 7.5 --> 6 Fair play for playing hurt when Mou had called him out for not doing it before, he's clearly bought in to ETH as well, but just can't stay healthy and other than decent hold up was meh while playing recently (IMO due to carrying the injury) Ronaldo - 3 --> 10 - superb contribution to dressing room atmosphere since the WC Elanga - 6 - still 6 - meh Pellistri - 7 - a bit of a favourite of mine tbh really want to see him get more time Weghorst - too early to tell, looks to be really good at holding it up and coming deep / pressing but lacking quality and pace in terms of goal threat Butland - meh My ratings for how we've been since coming back from the WC (new in bold, I kept the old ones there just for reference / interest)
