David de Gea
David de Gea comes into the 2018/19 season off the recent highs and lows in football. A poor World Cup performance by himself and Spain collectively, but also a first Golden Glove for Manchester United in the previous season. And for the first time in many seasons, a summer transfer window that didn't revolve around a possible move back to Spain and to Real Madrid. David instead spent the summer travelling with his friends and girlfriend, and enjoyed a trip to Disney World. Here's hoping de Gea has less to do in goal this season, but eventually ends up with a second Golden glove come season end. David goes into this season being Manchester United most capped player in the premier league in the current squad with only Valencia having more club appearances overall.
David showing where his loyalties lie. As proven by his intentional summer display to ward off any possible Spanish transfer activity.
A happy man with his well deserved award. Only his first, as previously thwarted by Chris Smalling in the final minute, of the final match of the season.

de Gea carried his outstanding 13/14 form towards 14/15. He is one of the key performers in our race for the 4th spot, if not the most. de Gea made saves after saves which many led to be the difference between a win, lose, or draw.
His yet another over the top performances earned him a spot in 14/15 PFA Team of The Year, beating the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Joe Hart, and Hugo Lloris. de Gea also won both Manchester United Players' Player of The Year & Sir Matt Busby Player of The Year for the second successive season.
With de Gea's contract running out on 2016 and there has been no sign of negotiating new contract for the Spaniard, de Gea has been heavily linked with Real Madrid since the last days of season 14/15. Many believe come the start of the season de Gea will be a Real Madrid player.
We shall see the outcome of this sooner rather than later.

To date, David has made 81 appearance for United, 57 of those in the Premier League and right now is without a doubt United's number one. Although it hasn't been smooth sailing for the United keeper since his arrival back in 2011 when he joined from Spanish club Atletico Madrid for a fee of £17.8 million, a British record for a goalkeeper.
In his first season David made his competitive debut against Manchester City in the Community Shield. De Gea was at fault for the first two goals of the game which gave Manchester City a 2-0 lead, but put in a good display in the second half to help United win 3-2 on the day. He took alot of heavy flack for that game, and again the following week vs West Brom when he failed to stop a Shane Long attempt which many seen as 'saveable'. He picked up his first clean sheet for the Club on his home debut vs Spurs when United ran out 3-0 winners. De Gea continued to be the target of media abuse as United suffered on of there most embarrassing defeats, a 6-1 home loss to Manchester City. Things where not looking good for the young Spaniard, as the media continued to bombard him. A lot of United supporters fearing it could get the better of him. De Gea was dropped in place of United's second choice keeper Anders Lindegaard right up until the he suffered an injury, which seen De Gea brought back into the first eleven. As the season progressed he showed signs of why Ferguson wanted to sign him as Van Der Sars replacement, and also picked up some praise from the media along the way. He finished that season with the best saves-to-shots ratio of 77.9%. United ended up losing the Premiership that season on goal difference.
In the beginning of the 2012/13 season de Gea continued exactly where he left off, making great saves in the first few games against Everton, Fulham and again away to Man City, producing back to back saves against Tevez and Silva to help United win 2-3 at the Etihad stadium. David had arguably his best performance in a United shirt against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, which United drew 1-1 and also gained praise from his manager Sir Alex Ferguson. De Gea went 678 minutes without conceding a goal in the league, stretching from January 30th, till April 8th. Subsequently de Gea was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year by his fellow peers, while also winning his first Premier League medal. This shows de Gea's hard fought battle from the first day in goal for United, up until this very moment. Heading into his 3rd Season with the Champions its clear de Gea has no intent on being anything but number one, and winning a second league medal for himself and number 21 for United.
