He can play LB better than TFM.

Jones or Tuanzebe might be available, so Mengi might have to drop out.

given that TFM should be gone in the summer I'd prioritise giving laird a game in his preferred spot tbh but fair enough

Do you think he is? I think Ole will keep him around as a utility player.

Yeah he's on small wages, nobody will pay anything for him and he can be an emergency back up for a few positions. I think we'll keep him even if he never gets a game, just in case Laird doesn't step up as we hope.

Either he'll do well and get a new deal or we'll lose him for free next Summer I reckon.

Tuanzebe is out until September.

Jones it is. Sell Axel, or shoot him.

🚨 With PL starting Sept 12 & all clubs agreeing to minimum 30-day break:
⚽️ PL side in EL final can’t play before Sept 21
⚽️ PL side in CL final can’t play before Sept 23
⚽️ PL side in Super Cup (on Sept 24) might not play until 3rd weekend
@TheAthleticUK

means we can give this comp a good go after LASK

The Times are reporting Ole will play a 2nd string in the tournament.

Probably better for us long term next season. A proper rest like Liverpool's players are getting.

But for Ole, he really shouldn't pass up such an opportunity. It's only 4 games, and the next one is a dead rubber. A win is good for his CV and propaganda. Getting a trophy under your belt is important. Poch never did.

I think we should play the back ups vs Lask, half and half against Copenhagen/Istanbul and then properly go for it in the semi's and the final.

Disgraceful if true.

That would also make the selection vs Chelsea even more absurd.

Very winnable trophy and this team hasn’t played together very long. We’ve looked below par in the few challenging games. This should be an opportunity to test ourselves and maybe win something.

I’d have no problem resting Magurie/Bruno/Rashford for most of the tournament but no excuse for the rest not to regularly feature.

There is absolutely no need to play any of the starting eleven. They all badly need to be rested.

James Ighalo Chong

Mata

Fred McTominay

TFM Jones Bailly Laird

Romero

1st leg XI was:

Romero, Shaw, Maguire, Bailly, Williams, McTominay, Fred, Bruno, James, Ighalo, Mata.

Shaw, Maguire and Bruno might drop out for TFM, Jones and Lingard.

Wouldn't be surprised if Maguire starts.
