I actually think we’ve handled his minutes well, not burnt him out in the first half, the lockdown has let him fill out a bit more strength wise and I think now he’s mature enough to be playing signif

This is just ridiculous. The Amber Heard situation is completely irrelevant. The only recording of the two placed her in a bad light, if there was anything that Depp said resembling what Mason has her

Filthy cunt

There you go. Wondered if it would be something like that. Still don't want the little shit back at the club.

Can't see that happening Albert. Surely there must be some morals left in that boardroom. Then, when the Qataris take over, morals are long gone

I do wonder if the Glazers are just trying to push this issue onto the next owners.

The Qatari's could go either way - You'd think that their existing reputation would lead to them caring less but I imagine they'll be on a charm offensive initially and taking the hit on Greenwood and spending whatever it takes to bring in similar quality will be the option they go with.

I find it hard to see American owners eating the cost and discarding a potentially £100m asset. I could see them trying to do some damage control with his reputation - I wouldn't be shocked at all if in the next year Greenwood & Harriet do a sit down interview where she paints him in a different light and claims that his persecution is affecting her mental health - PR 101.

It doesn't sit well with me that this can be allowed to happen. One minute a man is accused of domestic violence causing a suspension in his career then all of a sudden the couple reunite and have a kid. In a country like Britain it seems incredible that a couple can be allowed to reunite once such accusations have been made. Perhaps I'm giving this shit hole of a nation more credit than it deserves though.

Oh, I don't know. Rapists get short shrift over there.

You are. She doesn't want to lose a meal ticket and he wants to stay out of the grey bar hotel. Perfect match. Let's see what happens the next time he knocks her about or won't take no for an answer.

My bet is on a loan in the summer to give them more time to gauge public opinion and to increase his value. After a year a good chunk of the fanbase will have stopped caring, many of them don't even care now.

If he stays this is pretty much guaranteed to happen, maybe even some PR exercise with the womens team. It will work as well.

If he wasn't a footballer making enormous amounts of money, he'd be looking at a few years behind bars. They'll try and rehabilitate him and, maybe you're right and he'll come back to play before fans who don't give a shit. What a depressing thought.

I've thought that he was done here whatever the outcome. Even though he's technically innocent, I'd imagine there's still a good chance there'll be some damage done to the brand and potential sponsorships etc.

Now that they're back together and expecting a child it makes it a little bit more likely that he stays I'd think, but I still think the club will want to part company with him as there's too much water under the bridge.

We'll have to make a decision in the summer though, either way.

The amount of people on Twitter who support Greenwood is crazy.

Africans in particular are crazy. No regard for women.

Same on all prominent sexual assault cases. Social media is a cancer.

It's hilarious how her being back with him is used to discredit her -  As if a multi-millionaire footballer would return to a girl who made false accusations in an attempt to destroy him lol.

Yeah, you're right, rapists get short shrift over in the land of chivalry & honour. Funny how shaggin young boys is perfectly legal providing you stay on top. Fuckin scumbags!

The public rehabilitation of this dirtbag continues. The Sun has a feature on his upcoming nuptials complete with a picture of the happy couple on a weekend break in London. So shallow and self-obsessed. I wonder if United's PR people are behind all this? Silly question really. They don't want to lose money on their investment.

I'm puzzled, I'm perplexed,  I'm totally taken aback Albert. I took you for a man who would never cast eyes on that fascist rag. Printed by idiots, read by fools!

I just take a look at the website now and again. It's virtually the only place that would print that type of stuff. As for the readership, that's probably why the Greenwood story is in there. Idols with feet of clay seem to be followed more by Sun readers than anyone else.

It’s money motivated, the real person can see through the situation, not fit for MUFC any longer.

The entire game is money motivated. No point in calling football at this level a sport any more; it's a business. If he is welcomed back into the fold, then I'm done with United.

I'm a 35-year-old Utd fan and domestic abuse survivor/campaigner, I've had a lot of survivor's of abuse who are fans want to speak out but sadly are scared about legal action if they do. I wrote an op-Ed speaking to fans, mum's of young fans and survivor fans about the rumored option of his return, no national would take as legally worried to so self-published. Genuinely would be interested for thoughts?

Really good read - I'll quote my last post in this thread for a summary of my feelings

Quite sickening tbh - bit of a rock and hard place situation for the club but they have to do the right thing and let him go IMO

Would find it nigh on impossible as a fan to feel good seeing him in the shirt after seeing the pictures and hearing the audio recordings, also I'm speculating but it *screams* abusive relationship

Someone on reddit mentioned Ray Rice (NFL player who knocked his gf out in a lift then dragged her limp body away, all caught on cctv) is now 'happily married' to her... and Greenwood is now engaged to the girl involved with this, such a shame as he was such a good player too - this reminds me of when the Kevin Spacey stuff came out while I was a huge fan of House of Cards...

To try and play devil's advocate the only remotely 'optimistic' thing you could say is he's technically not guilty of anything, and maybe he's an exception to the general rule and perhaps the type of stuff suggested by the images and audio out there is in his past since then, maybe he's sought help, turned over a new leaf and is now a model partner... but I think that's about as likely DDG suddenly becoming a ball playing CB...

It's hard to look past the cynical view that the woman involved has been coerced either by him and/or her dad due to his relative wealth / status and potential future earnings (or even just pure control) but I suppose it's not really our place to speculate on that

I think the bridge has been burned with enough people that he's a PR disaster for whoever is looking to sign him if we do let him go and as sad as it is that's probably more likely to stop clubs taking him on than the moral question

It remains largely unchanged
