Rule change from next season - Accidental handball to be punished by penalty or free kick.

Recommended Posts

Reading reports that accidental handball is going to be a thing of the past, and that any strike of the hand or arm in the box will incur a penalty kick. I suppose it would end the "ball to hand" debate, but it seems harsh as a blanket ruling.

I really hate this idea, so hope it isn't adopted.  I know that handball can be a grey area, but being punished for the ball hitting your hand accidentally is too harsh.  You'll probably end up seeing defenders running around the box with their arms behind their backs more than you do just now.
