What Are You Listening To?

Recommended Posts

I haven't bought a Beck album in a while but I like the sound of Morning Phase. Think I'll pick it up.

Cheers man, great tune. You heading down to Cork in the Summer to see Neil & the Horse?

Sadly not, I'm working the next day, which is also Mrs Lucretius's birthday. Having said that, he's playing Hyde Park on the Saturday, and the National are also playing, who are her favourite band, so might be able to head over for that! Take it you're going down?

Hopefully you'll get over, sounds like a win for both of you. My missus only recently admitted that she was bored out of her head at the last one :O.

I've haven't actually got a ticket for Cork yet. There's been an incredible glut of birthdays and upcoming stags to pay for since Xmas but I'll get one next week.

Aye it's good stuff. I haven't listened to them in a while and put it on randomly the other day, went through a period of listening to them a lot along with Isis & Pelican.

Isis are insanely good live. Saw them in a pretty small club here in 2004, just before Panopticon came out. They came on stage, said hi, made the walls shake for an hour, said thank you, and left.

@aardvarked don't know if you've heard of 'Local Natives' or not but you should definitely check them out. They have two albums out. 'Gorilla Manor' (2010) and 'Hummingbird' (2013). Very contrasting albums, the debut was more happy/uptempo, the second was darker (personal relationships gone bad, death of one of the members' mother). Anyway, I like to set up artists with a little back story. Here's a few tracks

Thread for pretentious hipsterfags who mostly listen to albums. Discuss/rate/rabble

In the past few days I've listened to the following albums:

Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures. Top fucking class, my favourite Division album. Been sleeping and waking up to it in the last 4 days. Perfect.

Atoms for Peace - AMOK. Pleasantly surprised. First few times I listened it was kinda Okay-ish  but just like The Eraser after giving it a break and listening to it again it grew on me. Wasn't a big fan of AFP pre-AMOK stuff, but I'm in fucking love with this album.

Fatso Jetson - Flames for All. Mario Lalli the greatest overweight musician EVER.

Latitudes - Bleak Epiphanies In Slow Motion. Downloaded their whole discography but only listened to this EP so far. It's really great and it makes excited about their 2 albums. Good thing they decided to use shorter names for their albums.

Simple idea (thanks Abo for the idea, had to revive it)....you make an album of 12-15 songs of any band/artist that you would find perfect, either as a collection of favourite songs or songs you think could mesh well together.

      Example:

      ARCADE FIRE:

      1. Wake Up
      2. Ready to Start
      3. Neon Bible
      4. Reflektor
      5. Rebellion (Lies)
      6. Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
      7. Flashbulb Eyes
      8. Intervention
      9. Here Comes the Night Time
      10. Keep the Car Running
      11. Rococo
      12. Normal Person
      13. Neighbourhood #3 (Power Out)
      14. Afterlife

The order bugs me with Arcade Fire....since they've changed a bit from Funeral to Reflektor.

Fire ahead, everyone. Hope this works out.
