“Manchester United occupies a special place in my heart,"

"But watching United play now, it's a bit like making love as an old man. You try as hard as you can, but at the end of the day, everyone is a bit disappointed."

"When I say things, sorry, about making love as an old man, I'm not speaking about me. It was just a metaphor."

I fell in love with him very quickly and I still love him..my favourite Cantona goal came in his 3rd full appearance, boxing day at Hillsborough 1992...sat among Sheffield Wednesday supporters on my own as we were 3-0 down with about 15 minutes left..miserable and cold...two McClair headers in quick succession had us red hordes screaming for an equaliser and Wednesday panicking..Sharpe's cross, Eric stabs it past the keeper, who turns quickly and dives at the ball, looks certain to reach it when Eric slides in feet first and just manages to toepoke it in the corner while on his back! That end of the stadium went mad..Eric was a little giddy himself..and I was in lurve!

I watched that recently on You Tube mate.

That cunt Mark Bright had a sly kick out at Choccy when he scored his 2nd.. Incy saw it and shoved the bastard out the way.

Classic game...sadly that relentless attacking in the 2nd half is something  completely missing with this current outfit.

We'd literally grind teams into submission even at 3 zip up the opposition never thought it was enough for them.

The fear factor was immense.

We always had another gear to shift to when under the cosh, our current outfit are stuck in reverse.

They should be locked in dark room with this replay on repeat.

25 Years ago today I can hardly believe it's been that long.

United battling with Blackburn for the Premiership faced a tricky away trip at Palace.

It had been a cagey first half but an incident early in the 2nd went down in the annals of history.

Eric was targeted throughout the match by the Palace players which provoked  Ferguson to scream "why don't you do your fucking job" to the ref. 4 minutes into the 2nd half Eric snapped aiming a kick at Shaw him with the poor excuse for dreads!!  He was sent off.

As he walked off Ferguson didn't even look at  Eric but something was happening on the touchline close to the dugouts. A fan now known as Matthew Simmons (cunt) shouted  racist abuse at Eric.

Eric saw the red mist and launched a two footed kung fu kick at him, a roundhouse and a few punches. I loved it I wanted Eric to do him every United fan worth their salt wanted the same.

Players piled in Incy was there and Schmeichel of course galloped accross the pitch as the stewards broke it up he led Eric off the pitch and some scum threw a drink over him  Schmeicks launched his own tirade of abuse at the Palace fans on that side. He loved a bit of aggro did Schmeichel!

The incident was explosive I'd never seen anything like it! I remember going to college the day after and literally everyone was talking about it. The press had a field day with it.It made headline news that night.

The FA had no choice and nor did United and Eric was banned for the rest of the season going into next. When interviewed he uttered those famous albeit bizarre words... we all know what they were.

The game itself ended 1-1 which paled into insignificance but it did cost United another double that year.

Eric redeemed himself the following season when he led us to another double.

Just an amazing piece of football history... And the only time I saw Eric turn his collar down on the pitch.

We would have won the double 3 years in row. If not for that kick and 5 EPLs in row.

But also people say Blackburn bought the title that season, the reality is that United lost the title because of that kick. and the double.e'

Quite a few players left that summer as the kids arrived, you'll win nothing with them, so that dinner in Paris that AF had with Cantona to persuade him to stay was def value for money !

They did. Cantona had a bit of previous for letting the red mist descend. He did it at Swindon the season before if memory serves, but restrained himself from kicking a spectator.

We then dropped points at Goodison and Anfield during the latter part of the season then Andy Cole contrived to miss sitters at Upton Park on the final day of the season. We did beat Palace in the FA Cup semi as well but stuttered at Wembley against Everton.

Spoken like a TRUE KING!

Manchester United legend, Eric Cantona has told Al-Nassr forward, Cristiano Ronaldo that he must accept “he is not 25 years old” and follow the examples of veterans Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ryan Giggs, and Paolo Maldini.

Cantona believes Ronaldo could have handled his second spell at Old Trafford in a different manner despite his status diminishing to a squad role at Man United.

Ronaldo parted ways with Man United in a bitter exit after stating he felt “betrayed” by the club and had little respect for their manager Erik ten Hag, and former interim coach Ralf Rangnick.

The Portugal captain started just ten of Man United’s 21 matches prior to his departure, but Cantona suggested the 37-year-old should have handled the situation in a different way.

“There are two types of veterans: those who want to play every game because they still think they are 25 and those who realise they’re not 25 and are here to help young players, they know they won’t play every game, but they’re aware that they’ll have their moment,” Cantona told CalcioMercato.

“There are players who help new players: Ibrahimovic still does it with Milan, Ryan Giggs or Maldini himself when he was at Milan.

“Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t realise he’s not 25 years old. He’s already older and doesn’t know that. Instead of being unhappy about not having played all the time, he should accept the situation,” he said.
