Danny Welbeck Thread

Recommended Posts

Rooney misses him so much when he's not playing, and so does Mata by not stretching the oppositions defence. Hopefully he'll be back for Saturday, he's ideal to have upfront in this formation.

That's because he does literally everything for them, and they score the goals to pleas the fans.

So Hull are preparing to bid 14 million for Danny according to reports , personally i dont believe that we would sell one of our English home grown players who has been an integral part of our squad but im not really sure how much game time he will get this season, and if he wants to play for England he may look to play elsewhere . he is not a natrual fit for any of the psitions in a

3-5-2 formation but surely if Van gaal wants to change tactics then welbeck could find a position

Welbecks pros :

English

works very hard

covers more than one position

very quick

decent build up play

Welbecks cons :

no real position for him in Van gaals system (3-5-2)

Falls over ............... alot

doesnt score enough goals to be the main man

Any thoughts ??

Not one of my favourites, Welbeck, but he can do a job for a sustained period if Rooney and Robin are injured or lose form. £14 million to Hull must be a joke.

He's worth twice as much at least.

No position for him in a 3-5-2? What have you been drinking? If preseason performance is any indication, he should be starting alongside either Rooney or Robin. His supporting performance at the tip is almost essential to our attack. We miss his pressing and mil dot accurate passing, quick one-two's when he is not in the side.

If you had to choose between selling welbeck or one of RVP/Rooney which would you choose ??

Just reading Spick above. I would have to opt for Wayne and Danny.

Age.

I don't think you could rely on Danny to get us enough goals for him to be the main man , yes he works hard and has good qualities but he's never going to be in the Same class bracket as the other two , RVP was poor last season but we know what he's capable of , if LVG can get him and Rooney playing together then that is a partnership that will strike fear into defences

I have said before that I am not Welbeck's greatest fan but he does everything else well but score. That's the chink in his Armour. Ideally, there is a place for all three in the squad at least.  At 31 RVP is reaching his twilight years but he could do a job for us for a season or two. I'd be surprised if it was any longer.  Welbeck at 23 has time to improve.

Welbeck will not be leaving. He's a tactical dream for a manager and he can play in up to 3 roles in the current system.

He won't reach his peak for a good few years at least which is very encouraging considering the level he's at right now.
