Couldn’t disagree more, they put out a statement yesterday basically saying all was fine, sunak has a mare with macron today and suddenly this blows up, how they can whinge about his tweets when lord sugar has his own show and is far more partisan I don’t know

Lineker was bang on and they’ve royally fucked it here because Ian Wright (stunning human being btw) and Shearer have both pulled out from hosting

theyll either get some hated scabs in or just run the highlights without a host at this rate, the people seem overwhelmingly to be supporting Lineker and rightfully so

You're entitled to disagree.

It's about opinions he went low with the Nazi reference imo.

Wrighty is alright but I'd never defend Shearer like ever. Sworn United enemy we hate him forever.

Good news..    Rob Harris â€@RobHarris  13s13 seconds ago Match of the Stay - BBC retains Premier League highlights 2016-2019 (from BBC's @richard_conway & @SiClancy)

Diego Costa has huge issues. He's a lunatic. And every week he gets away with his mouthing off, barging off the ball and playacting. He should have a name by now, just like a diver does. Referees have

Fletcher played like Xavi against us and like a drunk cripple against Chelsea today. Typical.

Lineker situation Totally blown out of proportion, didn’t say anything that bad from what I saw

But, although i’m not a fan of cancel culture, for me you have to be consistent.  My biggest gripe with woke / xtreme left type people is some of them want to pick & choose / lack consistency

I.e. ok to blow out of proportion, cancel/end someone’s career for poor choice of words when it suits there political agenda, other times not so much

anyway, only MOD pundits I rate & would miss is Richards & Wright

Linekar & the rest can jog on!  Not funny,  his chat is absolutely average - British Icon?  Really?

To be fair all he said was the way they presented the idea (slogan on podium etc) was not dissimilar

And he should be entitled to that opinion and it has no bearing on his football presenting, I can't stand piers Morgan either but even he's defending lineker on this which says it's a much bigger issue

The same people calling people my age and especially the younger generation snowflakes and whinging about cancel culture were the ones calling for the BBC to 'deal with' lineker which is ludicrous

BBC and their Tory chair etc have totally fucked this, so many rightfully taking a stand it's made a mess of their entire day's planning and it's good to see it, the only shame is that the Tories will no doubt then play this both ways and use it as an excuse to get rid of public broadcasting

Andrew Neil presented political shows on the BBC for years whilst expressing his views on Twitter, being chairman of the Spectator magazine and writing newspaper columns, yet there was no objection from the BBC about that.

We had the World Cup a few months ago where the BBC were happy to do features on human rights issues in Qatar, yet apparently criticism of UK Government policies is a no-no, even when it's not actually on TV.

Linekar is a sports presenter, his job isn't in current affairs, so I'm really not sure what the issue is with him expressing his views on his own social media page.

Admittedly there is a lot of selective outrage and hypocrisy going on about this on both sides, but that's just the modern world for you.

And this is an interesting article from 2018...

Gary Lineker backs Brexit referendum campaign - BBC News

"A spokesman for the BBC said: "Gary is not involved in any news or political output for the BBC and as such any expression of his personal political views does not affect the BBC's impartiality."

BBC days are no.d I’d say;

sickening being forced to pay/subscribe to a supposedly non biased public broadcaster?

When, they’ve clearly recently appointed a right wing leaning pro-government Director General, & previously they had a left wing leaning director general?

Rarely I’d watch BBC?  Online content, News coverage & programs are average,  so concerned on being PC / appeasing left/right extremists it’s becoming irrelevant

Regardless of your views on asylum seekers the language being used is intentionally dehumanising and therefore the comparison to language used during 1930's Germany is a pretty apt one.

The BBC shitting the bed and bowing to Tory cunts should concern everyone.

The BBC doing what it always does: they  waive the white flag whenever a Tory wags his finger in their direction. They are craven. I hold no brief for Lineker, but he has consistently taken that stance on asylum seekers/refugees. I happen to disagree with him but this whole business has been blown out of all proportion. The funny thing is that right wingers think the BBC is red to its core.
